Key Responsibilities:

Qualifications:

Environment &amp; Working Conditions:&nbsp;This position will experience a varied environment. Incumbent’s work in an office environment will include moderate noise and interruption. Incumbent will also be exposed to extreme heat, humidity, noise, and temperature changes are possible. Occasional exposure to extreme cold during the winter season. Incumbent will be required to lift equipment in the excess of 25 pound or more and perform duties that require standing, bending, and squatting. Bodily injury could occur, including damage from flying debris or hearing damage from the operation of lawn mowers, pitching machines, edging tools, or weed eaters.

Job Summary
Reporting to the Tutor Coordinator, tutors are responsible for tutoring project participants and for attending tutor meetings, program workshops, seminars, and training sessions.
Job Duties
<ul>
<li>Provide tutorial assistance as assigned.</li>
<li>Assist participants in the development of study skills necessary for successful completion of courses so that students are retained, graduated and/or transferred.</li>
<li>Maintain accurate and current documentation concerning participant contact and progress.</li>
<li>Maintain contact with SSS staff as required.</li>
<li>Refer participants to Student Support Services staff for information or assistance with issues such as academic, transfer and career advisement, and problem-solving.</li>
<li>Maintain a professional attitude and demeanor at all times.</li>
<li>Tutor in designated areas for designated time periods.</li>
<li>Keep all information confidential.</li>
<li>Initiate contact with appropriate faculty members at least once per semester.</li>

Advanced Tutors:
<ul>
<li>Completion of Associate degree or higher at an accredited institution with a final GPA of at least 3.0 and grade of “A” or “B” in subjects to be tutored if applicable; OR acceptance as adjunct faculty at Northeast State or prior tutoring experience for Student Support Services with all documentation on file.
