Job Summary The Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) and Pediatric Cardiac Intensive Care Unit (CICU) provides a unique opportunity for RNs to provide specialized care for critically ill pediatric patients with a wide range of medical and cardiac conditions. PICU/CICU RNs provide high-quality family centered care, collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, and utilize advanced technologies to support critically ill children. RN’s will orient to both the PICU and Peds CICU and can be asked to work on both units based on the needs of the unit. The primary responsibilities for this position consist of providing total, comprehensive, continuous and patient centered care which includes: assessing, documenting, planning, implementing, teaching, developing, and evaluating a comprehensive nursing plan of care; delivering direct patient care; ensuring patient satisfaction; training and delegating duties for Nursing Care Technicians (Nursing Assistant); and adhering to University policies and procedures as well as federal, state and local regulations. Furthermore, this environment supports collaborative efforts among the nursing staff and the team of physicians to increase communication and enhance expected patient outcomes. This includes utilization of the nursing process in conjunction with a comprehensive patient-centered plan of care, ensuring patient satisfaction. The Associate Clinical Professor is expected to conduct classroom and clinical laboratory teaching in optometry theory and the clinical examination course series, consistent with the department's needs.
