Assistant Professor- Structural Biochemist The Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry within the College of Science at The University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP) is seeking applications for a tenure-track assistant professor faculty position in biochemistry pertaining to Structural Biology (cryo-EM). The successful candidate will be expected to bring a new dimension to the Department while complementing its existing strengths in both the interdisciplinary and traditional fields. The candidate should possess expertise in cryo-EM for elucidating the structure and function of biological macromolecular assemblies at atomic level resolution. This includes experience in protein purification, sample application to grids, hands on experience with an electron microscope, and extensive experience in data processing for cryo-EM reconstruction as demonstrated with first author publications indicating expertise in the application of cryo-EM methodology. A successful candidate is expected to actively engage at a departmental level through curricular development activities, lead the expansion of the program through collaborations with other faculty, and attract external funding at levels needed to build and sustain his/her research program. Job Requirements: An earned doctorate biochemistry, structural biology or related field, with an emphasis on interdisciplinary and problem-based research as well as publications in relevant areas. Postdoctoral experience and a strong record of high-impact publications are highly preferred. Evidence of existing/prior funding will be given strong consideration. Applicants with potential to attract external funding, and the ability to teach at the undergraduate and graduate level are highly desired. Research Assistant Professor in Pharmaceutical Sciences (2 positions) The University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP) School of Pharmacy is seeking to recruit two non-tenure track Research Assistant Professors on 3-year contracts in all areas of clinical pharmacy research as part of the UTEP Regents' Research Excellence Program (RREP). The RREP program aims to enhance the research competitiveness of the UT System and UT institutions. Preference will be given to candidates who will apply their expertise in health disparities in our predominately Hispanic population and utilize clinical settings or clinical datasets. Additionally, preferred candidates will have experience addressing important questions related to population health including access to healthcare, quality of healthcare, medication and treatment adherence, vaccine uptake, and disease prevention studies. Additional areas of preference include: 1) developing and/or improving behavioral interventions that can facilitate improved patient care or service delivery to advance pharmacy practice in the region, 2) pharmacoepidemiological studies to assess the safety, efficacy, and cost-effectiveness of medications in our population, 3) pharmacy practice research to include the evaluation of new and existing services, 4) workload measurement, 5) pharmacoeconomics, and 6) quality management within our region. Assistant/Associate Professor in Pharmaceutics and/or Pharmacology The University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP) invites applications for an Assistant or Associate Professor (tenure-track/tenured) in all areas of Pharmaceutics and/or Pharmacology. Areas of preference in pharmacology include immune system pharmacology, cardiovascular pharmacology, clinical pharmacology, systems pharmacology, and pharmacogenomics. Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties and tasks may be assigned.<ul><li>Demonstrate effective use of supplies and staff labor hours.</li><li> May assist with billing log preparation and updates.</li><li>Perform duties as assigned to meet the patient care or operational needs of the clinic</li><li> Obtain blood samples for laboratory analysis as required to complete physician orders.</li><li> Complete and document monthly review of patient medication profiles.</li><li>Knowledge of and comply with applicable health care professionals practice act requirements.</li><li>Perform duties at all times under the supervision of a Charge Nurse and within limitations established by and in accordance with company policy and procedures, applicable state and federal laws and regulations</li><li>Maintain thorough, accurate, and appropriate documentation in the patient record of all treatments, activities, and communication with the patient, physician and other healthcare professionals to include progress reports.</li><li>Report any significant information or change in patient condition to the Charge Nurse.</li><li> Report machine problems to Biomedical Technician and Administrator.</li><li> Participate in staff meetings as required. Attend in-service and continuing education offerings in compliance with company policy and procedure.</li><li>Assist with staff training as requested.</li></ul>
