POSITION:Assistant Director of Athletics – Temporary until June 30, 2024

REPORTS TO:Director of Athletics

POSITION SUMMARY:  The Assistant Director of Athletics will provide assistance with the organization of the athletic programs within the district.

TYPICAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

●       Coordinate program development for athletics.

●       Assists in the selection of intramural and athletic coaches and staff.

●       Organizes and conducts orientation of athletic coaches and staff.

●       Oversees the completion of evaluations of athletic coaches and staff; maintains records of required coaching permits and/or certifications for first aid, CPR and Mod. 15.

●       Assists in the hiring of officials, security/police and other personnel necessary and required for the proper administration of home games.

●       Oversees the system wide athletic transportation schedules.

●       Arranges for Park permits; assist with field and field house, gymnasium practice schedules; arranges for athletic field preparations.

●       Oversees program inventories and requisitions for supplies and equipment.

●       Prepares and submits reports pertaining to the athletic program.

●       Performs other such duties that are consistent with the nature of the position and may be requested by the Chief of Schools

QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS/ABILITIES OF IDEAL CANDIDATE:

●       Holds degree in Education and Administration and Supervision.

●       Demonstrated experience in the field of athletics.

●       Demonstrated successful experience in work with staff, students, parents and the community in an urban setting.

●       Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively as a member of an education team, setting and maintaining high standards for staff.

●       Demonstrated leadership.

●       Knowledge of State of Connecticut Statutes regulating coaching.

●       Excellent communication and organizational skills.

●       Experience and knowledge with the NASPE National Standards for Athletic Coaches.

CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

Connecticut Intermediate Administration of Supervision Certification (092)

SALARY AND TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:  12 Month work year – Salary is in accordance with the Hartford Principals’ and Supervisors’ Association’s 2023-2024 Schedule: Assistant Director, Group 11, $128,254 - $136,811

EVALUATION:   Evaluated annually
